Powerful Peace is different. It is “smart power” for the citizen; person-to-person problem solving; an evolved understanding of the compleksimplicity underlying human conflict. Many small disputes are based on ignorance or misunderstanding. Much of today’s international and ideological hatred is simply an extension of the same dynamic.

In our favor, however, the mere recognition of this dynamic paves the way for its reduction.

Powerful Peace warns that violence breeds violence…while acknowledging that in the real world, some violence is essential for the protection of innocents.

As the tagline says, I am a recently-retired SEAL. Some call me a “global security” or “conflict reduction” authority. I’ve worked with foreign forces in 30 nations and speak a few languages.

The concept of “smart power“ holds that force and attraction must be balanced for a nation to enjoy the most effective influence. It is composed of “hard” power (influence through coercion) and the “soft” power first described by Harvard’s Joseph Nye.
